Angkor Sunrise & Picnic Breakfast

It’s once in a lifetime experience to visit sunrise in the Angkor Wat temple complex and offer picnic breakfast to Buddhist monks at the nearby temple as locals and visit the Angkor Wat temple with a local scholar.

Wake before sunrise this morning and make the 15-minute journey with your guide to Angkor Wat, a legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site. Said by some to symbolize the soul of the Khmer people, the magnificent temple was built during the reign of King Suryavaman II in the early 12th century. Historians believe that many of the fascinating bas-reliefs and stone carvings immortalize many of the mighty king’s wars. Images of Apsara dancers decorate the five famous towers which replicate the universe according to Hindu mythology.

Your guide will take you to a serene viewpoint where you can experience the dramatic sunrise as the first rays of the day kiss the magnificent temple good morning. It is certainly one of the most unique places in the world for sunrise but be forewarned, you won’t be alone! After sunrise, your guide bring you to the nearby pagoda with a picnic breakfast arranged by a catering team from the town for you to offer Buddhist Monks as local “It is Cambodian belief if they want to send the food to their ancestors, they need to prepare and bring the food offer to monks, once the monk eats their food that means the food is already sent to their ancestors” The monks we will do chanting to accept your breakfast and eat it. Then your own breakfast is set on the side and let’s have your breakfast.

He will draw on his vast knowledge to provide you with a concise overview of Khmer history and culture through the lens of archeology. Take a stroll through the elaborately carved hallways of Angkor Wat as the Khmer empire is brought to life through the stories contained in each of the bas-reliefs and murals.
